Saada Dairy Goats updated Feburary 2, 2012
Welcome, both you who are visiting our herd for the first time, and you who are old friends. Thank you for taking time to get to know our bucks and does. We will try to answer your questions on our management, breeding philosophy and purchasing information within this site. Saada is a small, select herd, usually with less than 15 does, three or four bucks and five or six kids. Currently, all but one of the does appraised as a second or more freshener has Linear Appraised at Excellent 90 or higher and all does over 2 years old are SG, GCH, or are both. We strive to breed for a total dairy goat, exhibiting style and grace, breed character, above average milk, fat and protein, and correct physical structure. We also emphasize temperment and healthy longevity. We don't have any perfect goats, but we'll continue to try and breed for them. We have been on DHIA continually since 1990 and have had a number of does with records near or over 3,000 lbs. Linear Appraisal and it's predecessor have been used more than a dozen times - usually every year that it is available to us. Shows, often including the ADGA National, are attended in three or four surrounding states, enabling us to compete against a variety of herds and bloodlines. We have been accepted into the Spotlight Sale each of the three times we have nominated animals, and those animals sold, equaled or exceeded every Nubian also sold those years.
We are so thankful for the successes of recent years. We were honored to have been the 2009 National Show Premier Nubian Breeder and Exhibitor. In fact, at that National (the most recent we have attended), we had first or second place in all except one age class (where we were fourth), and had the 1st-place Dairy Herd and Best Three Females, and 2nd-place Dam and Daughter and Produce of Dam. This was achieved with a total of eight milkers - we didn't bring any kids. In April of 2010 the International Nubian Breeders Association named four milking does of the five nominated Saada does as All Americans with the fifth being named Res. All American. We have listed our breedings for spring of 2012, though, as always, we may have made a few changes from earlier listings. We are sorry for any confusion or disappointment this may cause, but must make decisions based on our herd's needs. Our 2012 kid crop and milkers has been sold out. To place an order for 2013 animals from us, you can refer to the "Purchase Page" of this site. Herd health is very important to us. We feed the highest quality alfalfa available, 16% protein grain mix, loose minerals for goats, kelp, yeast and baking soda. Kids are raised on a CAEV prevention program. Births are attended and kids are raised separately from adults, prior to being picked up or shipped. Each doe and retained kid are tested annually for CAE. We have never had other chronic or contagious health problems or diseases. We have "normal" G6S tests on all bucks as wll as several does and other does are "normals" on pedigree - we have yet to have an animal test here as a "carrier" or " affected". Phone calls, e-mails or correspondence are always welcomed from those wishing more information, extended pedigrees, LA, or milk records on specific animals. Thanks for your interest in Saada Dairy Goats LLC. Let us know if you have questions or comments. JM+JT
